Overview

Although Chris Olson never envisioned her Art History undergraduate degree to be a marketing consulting asset (she originally wanted to be an art museum librarian!), her knowledge of color, design, form, shape and function allows her to work easily with the designers and illustrators she has chosen to be associated with Chris Olson & Associates. Clients are encouraged to express their requirements and let Chris Olson interpret it for them in the language of design. In addition, because she embraces a client's overall marketing strategy, she is able to guide clients towards clean and memorable designs and away from design pitfalls and disasters. All of the designers working with Chris Olson & Associates have either won peer-reviewed awards, or have worked on Chris Olson & Associates projects for more than 10 years. Designs done for client logos, brochures, direct mail pieces, product packaging, stationery materials and web sites have received numerous awards.

Folders and Covers

Packaging the results of a database search, a report, or other type of information product assigns tangible characteristics to a library service. Our presentation folders and cover sheets provide an attractive, versatile and cost-effective solution for packaging information. Our first packaging portfolio (5.2 MB) presents samples of folder packages and cover designs we have created for clients.

Retail and CD Packs

Developing and producing multiple item packages takes the special skill of being able to create artwork on a 2-dimensional screen for a 3D object. Accuracy, patience, and attention to detail are called upon to draw construction blueprints, production specifications and scaled mock-ups for complex packaging projects.

For 10 years we wrote, designed, and produced the award-winning documentation package for the National Library of Medicine's software program, Grateful Med. Over the years the package went through a number of variations, including a bookstore retail package edition. The last production run produced over 500,000 copies shipped to customers around the globe. We have also created packages for CD products, including direct mailers. Our second portfolio of packaging examples shows our more complex (multi-piece) assignments.
